We tend to take people for granted, especially those in the hospitality industry. Those who deal with our food, drink, complaints and awful chat-up lines are almost saints for putting up with the general public. It may be woefully overdue but finally, they are being celebrated with their own festival!
Over the Bank Holiday weekend in August, 24th to the 27th 2018, PX+ Festival will have its debut at Duchess Farms in Hertfordshire to celebrate those who work in the hospitality industry. Created by a team of talented hospitality people who all share a love for the industry, the aim of the PX+ festival is to give back to those who spend their lives making amazing experiences for other people. The festival plans to give its guests a “creative playground” for the weekend, with talks and workshops by professional and celebrity guest speakers. Throughout the festival, the guests are “Personne eXtraordinaire”. The inaugural occurence of this revolutionary festival will certainly contain a feast for the eyes, ears, mouth and mind for the industry professionals.
The Central Courtyard will be home to the main stage and the main bar, as well as showcasing brand collaborations. A 60 cover restaurant with a communal table will host a different chef each evening. There will also be a roaming 20 cover counter restaurant where guests can hop on and off that will showcase a nightly changing menu.
Talks will occur during the festival as well. The “Let’s Talk About It” Barn will have creative minds from the hospitality industry talking about their experiences and offer advice and opinions to others. Furthermore, The MAKERS Shop, hosted by food writer and independant London food guide, My Hungry Valentine, will be at the festival. Selected artisans from ceramists to knife forgers will display their talents and hold workshops for the guests to get their hands dirty and make their own things to take home after the festival.
Duchess Farms will provide a secret music venue as well, for the entertainment of the guests. PX+ have partnered with Island Records for new and unsigned acts to serenade and captivate. As well as the secret music venue, there will also be the aptly named “Bored As F**k” Tent, which will feature live acts and guest appearances for an after hours “den of iniquity” to bring the festival to a new level. But just in case there’s too much going on, the festival will also include a Rest & Rejuvenate Tent which offers yoga, massages, meditation and a nap area.
Tickets for this event are limited to those working in the hospitality industry and must be applied for. Those chosen to join this exclusive festival will be notified as each guest will be hand-picked. The price of the ticket is £155 plus a £5 booking fee, and includes access to all talks, a tent pitch, daily breakfast with a Bloody Mary and unlimited coffee over the weekend. PX+ will have non-negotiable ‘hospitable pricing’ throughout.

About the Location
Since 2012, Duchess Farms has been growing and producing its own rapeseed oil using both modern and traditional techniques. Oscar Harding, the owner, researched the potential for rapeseed and discovered the health benefits that come from it. A loyal Blundstone customer, Oscar chooses Blundstone boots to wear in his fields because of their durability, style and comfort.
At Blundstone, we support those who support others. That’s why we are supplying the chefs at this event with boots, perfect for dealing with a British summer in the outdoors because of their durability and comfort.
